Prof. Sameer Sapra, IIT-Delhi, gave a special lecture on April 25, 2022. The title of the presentation was "MoSe2 - a versatile transition metal dichalcogenide and its heterostructures for applications in catalysis and optoelectronics" This lecture was one of the series of events at the Centre for Nano and Soft Matter Sciences (CeNS) to commemorate the 75th anniversary of India's Independence – Aazadi Ka Amrit Mahotsava. In this talk, Prof. Sapra talked about the development of 2D nanomaterials and how these materials show existing properties confined along one dimension and with a huge surface area in the other two dimensions. The speaker introduced the audience about the advantages of defect-rich and vertically aligned edges 2D nanomaterials. Prof. Sapra also showed several examples of complex hetererostructural nanomaterials developed in their laboratory and their superior performance in hydrogen and oxygen evolution.
