Science Day special lectures at RN Shetty pre-university college, Murdeshwar
Under Vigyan Sarvatra Pujyate, CeNS has conducted a series of lectures and quiz to pre-university students of RN Shetty pre-university college, Murdeshwar on 25 February 2022. This program was one of the series of events at the Centre for Nano and Soft Matter Sciences (CeNS)to commemorate the 75thanniversary of India's Independence – Aazadi Ka Amrit Mahotsava. The program began with the introduction to the speaker by the Principal and the Coordinator for the college.
In Session – 1, the Director of CeNS, Prof B L V Prasad, delivered a pedagogical talk on “Let Us Learn To Lead” to kindle young minds to take up the research-based learning to lead the career. Dr. Pralay K. Santra talked on “Nanoscience in Materials Research” in Session – 2. He has introduced the nano concepts to the student and given glance applications of nanotechnology with the example of quantum dots sensitized solar cells. Followed by a talk on ‘Nanolithography’ by Dr. S. Angappane in Session -3. This talk was covering the basics of semiconductors, devices, and fabrication of devices using various lithography techniques.
Finally, a special quiz session was conducted for the students based on the talks. The students have actively participated in the quiz, which was appreciated by the teachers and the Principal of the college. As a whole, the entire program turned out to be a good motivation to the students, which would help them to broaden their learning, understanding and inspiring them to take up higher studies and research careers.
