World Intellectual Property (IP) Day

The “World Intellectual Property (IP) Day” celebrated every year on 26th April with a view to learn about the role that IP rights in encouraging innovation and creativity.The theme for 2021 is IP and SMEs: Taking your ideas to market.Greenhouse (TBI, Nano Mission Project), CeNS in collaboration with Legasis Services (empanelled IP firms with CeNS) CeNS organized an on-line event on 26 April 2021. Industry experts from India, Japan, Australia, UAE and U.S. shared their views and practical guidance on how start-ups and small and mid-size enterprises (SMEs) can leverage IP. This was followed by thought-provoking panel discussions on innovations and the future of IP for SMEs with an array of expert speakers such as Dr. R. A Mashelkar, Prof. Anil Gupta,Dr. Uday Salunkhe, Mr. Girish Joshi, Mr. Ajay Thakur, Mr. Hiroyuki Hashimoto, and Dr. Nicola Maxwell. Contuning the celebration, an  IP Hackathon contest was conducted from 29April to 1 May wherein three problem statements were provided to the particpants. The researchers from CeNS, both individually and in groups participated in the event and provided an innovative solution to the problem statement.Based on the evaluation of the ideas received from the perspective of originality three winners were identified. The first place went to Dr. S Vimala, the second place to Ms. Ramya Prabu B, and third place was jointly won by Himani, Rahul Singh, and Sabiar Rahaman. The winners received certificate of appreciation from Prof. G U Kulkarni, Director-in-Charge, CeNS.
