A lecture followed by demonstrations on the topic liquid crystals entitled “Liquid crystals: Science and Technology” were presented under V4 (ವಿಜ್ಞಾನಿ-ವಿಧ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿ-ವಿಚಾರ-ವಿನಿಮಯ) program of CeNS by C. V. Yelamaggad on 08-09-2015 (Tuesday) at Sri Jagadguru Renukacharya (SJR) Education Society, Primary & High Schoo, Rajajinagar, Bangalore from 1-30 pm to 3-15 pm. Initially, Yelamaggad was welcomed by the Secretary, Principal, and other staff members of the School. Before the presentation, the speaker explained about the aims and objectives of the V4 program of CeNS. All the teaching staff appreciated the program. They intended that their School children should visit the Centre to understand how the research activities on nanomaterials and soft matter are being carried. The speaker was introduced to audience (9th and 10th standard students). The presentation covered the general perspective of liquid crystals, their importance and applications, their discovery, definition and classification. The active participation of the student was quite apparent as many genuine and intelligent questions were asked to the speaker. During the demonstration, some representative students were participated. At the end of presentation, many students approached the speaker and expressed their willingness to choose research as a career in science.
