High humidity conditions can cause surface fogging which can severe inconvenience in distant viewing. In many contexts such as automobile transport, fogging possesses life-threating challenges.
i2Ms can also be useful in any applications which convert electrical energy into heat. i2M may defog a panel, from bathroom mirrors to surfaces in industrial plants. There are interesting contexts for local heating elements, e.g. to prevent screens, lenses and mirrors from misting up.
Below is shown a photograph of a glass enclosure covering a steam zone. A part of the front and back glass is joule-heated using an embedded i2M. Through the square defogged region, the scene behind is clearly visible.
