DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:\n\nCeNS and VIT University, Vellore conducted a joint one day workshop on 
 "Recent Advances in Nano and Soft Materials" for the undergraduate, Postgra
 duate and PhD students of VIT on 17th October 2015. Professor G.U.Kulkarni,
  Director of CeNS was the Convener, and Dr. S. Krishna Prasad ( CeNS) &
  Dr. R. Vijayaraghavan (VIT) were coordinators of the workshop. Sixty parti
 cipants consisting of the students and the faculty of VIT took part in the 
 proceedings. The technical session started with a keynote address by Prof. 
 G.U. Kulkarni, who gave an overview of the Centre's research activities and
  then made a technical presentation on" Turbostratic graphene ". This was f
 ollowed other technical presentations by 3 faculty members from CeNS – Dr. 
 C.V. Yelamaggad, Dr. S. Krishna Prasad and Dr. Neena S. John – one from JNC
 ASR, Bangalore, and one by a faculty of VIT. The programme concluded with a
  lecture by the host of the workshop, Prof. R. Vijayraghavan. The speakers 
 provided, for the benefit of the students, the basic background knowledge f
 or the topics, and then highlighted the research work being carried out in 
 their laboratories. Future directions in the respective fields were also po
 inted out. The programme was well received by the participants with interes
