Bengaluru. As a prelude to this flagship programme, and to inspire and educ
ate students in the field of Nano Science and Nanotechnology events labeled
Nano Jathas were conceptualized by the Vision Group on Science and Technol
ogy, Government of Karnataka under the mentorship of Bharat Ratna Prof. C N
R Rao, FRS, Linus Pauling Research Professor and Honorary President, JNCAS
R. Karnataka Science and Technology Promotion Society (KSTePS) was entruste

to the overwhelming response to similar events organized by Centre for Nano
and Soft Matter Sciences (CeNS), Bengaluru being the coordinator of this e
vent. 2nd semester engineering students, numbering about 60, representing s
ix different engineering colleges from in and around Bengaluru, participate
d in the 14th and culminating event of these series of shows held at CeNS o

(on Elucidation of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology). The talks were followed
by a short description of Raman spectroscopy, a powerful tool for investig
ating nanomaterials, a video on the life and works of Sir C.V. Raman, and a
live tabletop demonstration of the Raman effect. The visiting studen
ts were led through demonstration of the nano kits which have been develope
